PROGRAM OF STUDY - DOCTOR OF MINISTRY


The Reverend Sherman R. Tribble, Ph.D. Appointed Doctor of Ministry Program, Associate Dean.

President J. E. Perkins has appointed Reverend Sherman R. Tribble, Ph.D. as head of the D.Min Program. Dr. Tribble holds a Doctor of Philosophy, Religious and Theological Studies from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. His dissertation subject was, IMAGES OF A PREACHER: A Study of the Reverend Joseph Harrison Jackson, Former President of the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Inc. Dr. Tribble received his Master of Divinity, Howard University School of Divinity, Washington, D.C. and Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee.
 

Dr. Tribble brings a wealth of experience to the Apex School of Theology. He currently serves as the Director of Publishing, The Sunday School Publishing Board, The National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.; Pastor of New Visions Baptist Church, Nashville, TN. Also has Adjunct Professor, Department of Religion and Philosophy, Fisk University, Nashville, TN; and, as Adjunct Professor of Church History, Shaw University Divinity School, Raleigh, NC.
 

Dr. Tribble has served as the Dean of the Chapel and Professor of History and Homiletics at American Baptist College, Nashville, TN, and as Pastor of First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill, Nashville, Tennessee.
 

Dr. Tribble publications and recordings include:
 

  • In June 2002 I delivered a paper to the Baptist History and Heritage Society of the Tennessee Baptist Convention entitled, Diverse Worship Styles among Afro-American Baptists. This paper is published in Baptist History and Heritage, vol. XXXVII, Summer/Fall 2002.

  • Cloud, Olivia, Johnson, Wellington, Olalaye, Gideon, and Tribble, Sherman eds. Townsend Press Sunday School Commentary, 2006-2007 86th edition, Townsend Press: Nashville, TN, 2006.

  • Pending, Images of a Preacher: A Biography of Joseph H. Jackson. Townsend Press. Expected date of publication.

  • Pending. The Confessions of Humpty Dumpty: A Guide for People Who Have To Start Over In Life.

  • Recorded solo CD The Heart & Soul of A Preacher Musician produced by S. R. Tribble & J Clay Sholar. Instrumental and vocal arrangements of hymns, spirituals, and original music.

  • Keyboards, "Praise Workshop I," album recorded by Rev. Solomon Phifer and the Praise Workshop Choir, Ossining, NY.

  • Organist, "A Man For All Seasons," album recorded by Dr. William Revely, Mount Gilead Baptist Church, Washington, D.C.

  • Consultant, "Something on My Mind" album recorded by Dr. Dennis W. Wiley, Covenant Baptist Church, Washington, D.C.

2008-2010 TUITION/FEES/PAYMENT POLICY

TUITION: $10,800.00 (total tuition cost based on 3-year matriculation)

 

FEES

COLLOQUIUM/INTENSIVES $1,800.00 (3 x $600.00=$1,800.00. Each student MUST complete at least 3 colloquiums/intensives over a 2-year period)

INITIAL MATRICULATION FEE: $200.00 (Due at time of admission)

CONTINUING MATRICULATION FEE: ($300.00 – Students not enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry Program for an entire academic year are required to pay a continuing matriculation fee of $150.00 per semester in order to be eligible to continue in the program)

GRADUATION FEE: $400.00

LATE REGISTRATION FEE: $50.00

 

*PROJECT/DISSERTATION SUPERVISOR’S FEE: $1,000.00 (This fee is remitted during the Project/Dissertation in Ministry phase of the program – FINAL YEAR OF PROGRAM if student selects a SUPERVISOR that is NOT a member of the ASOT Faculty.)

 

PAYMENT POLICY

  • Program Tuition and Fees must be paid at the time of Registration.

  • Students who select interest free payment plans must sign a promissory note. They will be billed in monthly/quarterly increments over a three year period for their tuition and fees ONLY.
